Dear Asif bhai,

It is good to see that you have already engaged some people for fund raising. I hope with all dedicated people of Drishtipat you can make it happen. I have been following your activities for long and I am very aware that it is not a very easy thing to do. With all my optimistic spirit, I can only hope that if you try, you will be successful.

I hope the concept note I am writing will also help you write the synopsis/appeal letter. I had a meeting yesterday with the team here and we are trying to do our best with compiling information and writing the concept note. I am going to interview some bureaucrats from Palli Bidyut in Dhaka today or tomorrow. Our activists here have a lot of interesting information. We are also talking to those who already visited Kansat before and talked to local people. For now, our goal is to start somewhere and we know that the rest will evolve as we progress.

Omi is working on the budget. He will send it to you hopefully by the end of this week. We all have put our hearts in it and are looking forward to reaching our goals. Like Kansat movement, I believe making of the documentary will not remain inactive.

Dear all,
I am just checking the mails for the last time, i will be flying abroad within 4 hrs, i had the wonderful chance to talk to Mridul. and
found one thing- if we all give our best , we can truly make a great
film…
Omi

Dear Asif,
Finally I am back online. Thank you very much for your email; you
worked hard for this.
I am quite hopeful that things will start working between 'Drishtipat'
and 'Counter Foto-a Center for Communication'.
Just to let you know, we have already started having
meetings/discussions about the Kansat issue. I have already talked
with few of our filmmaker activist friends, who seems quite interested
about making the film. But as you know this kind of film do need a
long term pre production level work i.e. field visits, documentations,
interviewing people, and finally writing the script.
So if we really are looking forward to make a film on the issue, then
I think we should start working on this right away.
It was wonderful meeting you.
From the team of Counter Foto our very best wishes to you.

Dear All,

We would like to do an online album with pictures of the Kansat oppression.  If you have any or know anyone who has pictures from Kansat, please send it to us or let us contact them.

This morning we had a human chain at the Noboborsho rally for the people of Kansat which got very enthusiastic support from the general mass.  We had banners that said, "They have killed people in Kansat, how can we say happy new year?"  We asked people to raise their hand in support when they passed us and we got very enthusiastic support from them.  It wasn't much.  It was a symbolic protest.  We feel that the voices of silent majority must be heard.

Pictures of the protest are here .

Please help us with the online album by sending us anything you have and also feel free to distribute the news and pictures of this protest.

Thanks,

Asif on behalf of Drishtipat
